Meet The Safety Turtle Pool Alarm - It Could Be Life Saving – 5 Star Rating
Protecting children from water related injuries or death was firmly placed in my mind as a young child on vacation. While at a campground in Cody Wyoming, I had the unfortunate experience of watching my father and several men attempt to resuscitate a small boy after he fell into a pool that was so dirty, visibility to the bottom was nil. If it were not for the little boys sister who had seen him fall in, the little boy would not have survived.
Recently while shopping for spa supplies I happened to find a product from Terrapin Communications on a shelf … After the demonstration I came away with confidence in a product that I haven't felt in a long time.
I highly recommend this product without a doubt as a secondary defense for pool safety. I only mention it as a second defense since I feel that my eyes and observation of children would be considered the first defense. We all know that children move at the speed of sound and cannot always be under our watchful eyes.
Increase your child's safety around the pool and your peace of mind with the Safety Turtle.

A Few Wrinkles But Well Worth The Money – 4 Star Rating
If you have a pool and children you NEED some kind of alarm to protect them. Some kinds of alarm are tripped by opening a door or a gate and will not protect children who will climb the fence. Some kinds of alarms will be tripped by wave in the pool and thus the wind will cause many false alarms.
Here, you put a bracelet on your children's wrist that will trip a receiver in your home if it is immersed in soft water. … The horn is in your home and you are certain to hear it, even if the windows are closed. The full volume is loud enough to be heard from anywhere in the house, even with inside doors closed, and it should wake up all but the deepest sleeper...
The bracelets are light, shaped as turtles and brightly colored. The kids love to wear them. They are sturdy enough to withstand daily child activity without damage. In principle it will not be tripped by games in the sprinkler. The buckle of the wristband is locked with a small hexagonal key (supplied) to keep the kid from removing it without authorisation. … The wristband is a little bit annoying to put on a child's wrist. The band is somewhat difficult to slide inside its buckle. Some fidgeting is required.
Other than that, I really trust this system and it helps me to feel more secure if my vigilance was to lapse.

Wonderful for pet owners! — 5 Star Rating
It saves lives, absolutely worth the expense! Remember: it is NOT a replacement for supervision of pets and children.
We bought this product after we moved into a home with a pool. We have 3 active dogs and we knew there was a strong likelihood they would slip in from time to time and worried they would be unable to get out of the pool. I researched all types of pool alarms and none of them seemed to fit the bill. They main kinds needed to be plugged it, only sounded outside and were reported to have many false alarms. They worked by either sounding an alarm when something splashed the water (over a certain weight) or motion activated like the motion detector floodlight we are all familiar with. Neither seemed as reliable as needed when it comes to the life of our dogs.
With the safety turtle each of my dogs wear a small plastic turtle on their collar that activates an alarm when it is submerged in water. I like that I can choose the location for the alarm so I know I wont miss it if it goes off. Also the alarm is different sounding then any alarms I hear in the neighborhood so there is no mistaking when it goes off.
The problems with are few in my opinion. One of ours broke off the collar after about a month of use. I bought it from a refurbish company so I was not able to get a replacement. Also from time to time you will get a false alarm if your dogs are fond of rolling around in mud puddles or likes to play in the rain. I also wish they could somehow fit on regular dog collars instead of having to buy a new one (they offer it on their website).
The true test is ”does it work when needed?&rlquo; My dog Sophie is sleeping warm and tight right now because of it. Tonight she was playing with her ball around the pool and slipped in. With in seconds I got to her, jumped in and pulled her out of the pool. Even though she can swim, she can‘t climb out at the pools edge. If it was not for the Safety Turtle she likely would have become exhausted and drowned.
Thank you so much to those who developed this product. I strongly recommend this product to those with dogs and swimming pools.
